We have left Quartzsite and have arrived at our next stop on our journey, Lone Rock camping area in the Glen Canyon Recreation of Page, Arizona.
The camping area is on a beach of Lake Powell. There are no set sites but there are fire rings where people have camped before.
Wow! Wow! There are no words that can describe this location that can do it justice. It is open camping, meaning you find a spot and park. Andy and John jump in our jeep and go scouting for a “solid” place for us to call home for the next few days. Can you see them out there?
We are pretty heavy and sand can mean getting stuck. John and Andy found us a good spot, pretty much all to ourselves.
And what a view of Lone Rock right out our front window!! I don’t know if you can see them, but the black spots in the water by Lone Rock are people in kayaks. It helps you understand the scope and size of the landscape.
We all know how the angle of the sun can change the way something looks, in particular, color. Here are the mountains at 5pm.
And again at 8pm. Quite a difference.
The sunset show in this location is the changing color of the rocks. The sunrises are all about the skies.
Andy and Candy’s dog Gemma, is enjoying the soft sand compared to the rocky ground in Quartzsite.
Can’t wait for tomorrow when we can do some exploring. Right now, we are all ready for bed.
