Lake John Resort, Walden Colorado

We are excited to be hooking up with Jim and Becky, another full-time RV couple that we met out here on the road. John is going to be doing some workamping for Josh and Nichole who own the Lake John Resort.

As we approach the valley where the campground is located we have this beautiful view of the Rockies. It doesn’t even look real.

It doesn’t look any more real the closer we get.

According to the sign, it’s real.

Check out this view. Okay, it is real.

There are about 30 sites at this campground in the middle of nowhere. John will be going over all the electrical pedestals to “pay our rent.”

Our first sunset is nothing short of amazing.

And there are lots of birds for me to watch. A bird I haven’t seen before and that really likes my window bird feeder is the yellow-headed black bird.

There is plenty of wildlife around to keep me entertained all day. Look at this cute little ground squirrel right out side of our coach.

It is so nice to be with friends during this time of social distancing. For the most part, we are sick and tired of the distancing, the fear, and the face masks. Cheers to the great outdoors, good friends and good food.

Jim took John fishing on their days off and gave him some pointers on how to fly fish. The problem here at this lake at this time of year, are the strong winds. A glassy lake like this is completely unpredictable. It can be in the morning, mid-day, or in the evenings so they have been taking off at a moment’s notice.

There is an awesome valley not too far from the campground. I think I want a house right here with a big bay window facing this way,

or maybe this way, or maybe both.

I don’t really want a house or a piece of land to call our backyard just yet, but have I mentioned the sunsets? This one isn’t colorful but with the evening clouds that seem to form more often than not, it creates a pretty picture.

There are lots of birds on the lake like pelicans, seagulls, swifts, and the most beautiful mountain blue birds. They sure do like the tire of the Jeep.

There are also grebes and plovers and of course, ducks. May I present our Crimson Teal couple.

All good things must come to end eventually, but we have some exploring to do before we leave this area of Colorado. I mean really, is this not gorgeous?
