It was sad to leave Phil and Sue after such a short visit but it is time to get down to it. We are staying on Bill and Jul’s (John’s sister) river lot for the time being until we figure out a plan.
John’s mom (Peg) is a little apprehensive about us seeing her without her hair, apparently.
I told her, “You are beautiful with and without hair. It is your spirit I love not its vessel.”
We have arrived at a time when Mom is feeling pretty good so we are enjoying just hanging at the river lot with Bill and Jul and pleasant visits with Mom and Verne. Unfortunately, things did not stay this way. Mom’s third and final chemo treatment hit hard and she is spending her days just sleeping.
Verne, unfortunately, with his Alzheimer’s can’t understand what is going on. We need to get him out of the house. John and I whip up a good breakfast for him.
Thankfully, it is still nice enough to be outside even in the early mornings. John and Verne head outside to do some yard work. Busy work mostly, trimming back the grass around the sidewalks.
Now that John has Verne focused on the task, he is like a machine! He doesn’t want to stop.
The way Verne is working, John better go find more for him to do.
