Close to the Bosque RV park are two scenic drives through BLM land. We chose the informal, and not well documented drive first. John wanted to do some rockhounding in this area too and help out John and Sharon with their rock picking.
Many of the more popular drives into BLM land are on very well maintained gravel roads. As we began our drive in, the scenery went from fairly flat to rolling hills pretty quickly.
Hidden behind the trees in this picture is a canyon that we decided to walk up. It wound on and on through the rolling hills with spectacular rock formations appearing around every turn. We all had that “What is around the next corner?” syndrome and could have spent days wandering the canyons.
As we drove on the hills turned to walls of rock that got bigger….
and bigger.
Now it is back to camp to wash our rocks and see if we picked up anything interesting!
