Santa Rosa State Park, NM

I don’t know about John and Sharon, but after the last 10 days filled with all kinds of activities, it is nice to sit and do nothing for a while.

The Santa Rosa State Park is very beautiful with a lake, plenty of trees around, hiking trails, and lots of birds to watch.

Sharon gave me a hanger that attaches to the window with suction cups. I hung my hummingbird feeder on it and have had black chinned hummers and broadtail hummers. Male broadtails make a unique sound with their wings and I hear them coming before I see them.

Orioles have been coming to the feeder so I will be getting a feeder meant for Orioles. It upsets the hummers a lot when the Orioles are on their feeder.

John has been spending his days working with his rocks, giving his new “Flat Lap” a workout. I’d love to show you pictures of some of the rocks he has finished but I haven’t gotten the hang of taking pictures of rocks. It is harder than you think!

I’ve been sitting in the sun reading, practicing with the harmonic John Mostoller gave me, and trying to finish up some crochet projects. I finally finished the Indian blanket pattern afghan that John wanted me to make. It came out pretty good!

John can’t wait to get to our next campground. We are moving to the the Whittington NRA campground. There are shooting ranges on site with all kinds of activities taking place. He is SO interested in finding out if there are hosting/volunteer positions available for next year. If so, I know where we will be spending our Spring in 2014!

Chat me up peeps! We love to hear from you.
