We’ve arrived at Coffeyville Kansas where we will be until at least Christmas. The park, Buckeye Mobile/RV Estates, is nice and quiet, the owners are caring and interested in making your stay with them pleasant. It is about 8 miles from Amazon and is one of the nicer parks from what we can see.
We are close to our neighbors but from what we’ve discovered most of them are other “Amazonians”. Since it seems most, if not all, of us are working the night shift noise shouldn’t be a problem for us during the day when we are sleeping.
Our campsite overlooks a pond that has fish and turtles and apparently we are free to fish, even without a license.
Our first two days of orientation at Amazon are complete and we have our work hours and job assignments. John and I work Wednesday – Saturday from 5pm to 3:30am doing inventory control. Our first week however will consist of half days of what they call “work hardening”. This will allow us to adjust to a new time schedule, get used to walking and standing all day on concrete and with any luck, prevent any injuries.
So to help get our schedule switched around we stayed up until…..11pm! Can you believe it! And we slept in until 8:30. Hmm, I think we have a long way to go. Luckily we have a few more days to get ready.
