Here it is Saturday night, 11:24pm Central time, and we are still awake happily watching SyFy. We have successfully switched our sleeping schedule around with minimal discomfort. Our eating schedule….well we are still working on that issue.
Our first week of work hardening at Amazon is over and it wasn’t’ too bad. Our feet and legs are fine but we both experienced some back discomfort. Hopefully that will lessen over time. We are currently in the inventory control department working Tuesday thru Friday 5pm to 3:30am.
Basically our job is to follow the direction of our hand held scanner that sends us on a “treasure hunt” to locate a specific bin and verify the number of items. Not too hard.
Life isn’t all work and no play yet. We found a great hiking spot not to far away with a variety of trails.
The Elk City State Park located in Independence KS is only a short drive from our campsite.
We picked a trail that was about 5 miles round trip. The first part of the hike was just a nice stroll through the woods. The second half had lots of interesting rock formations.
Now here is something you don’t see to often when just hiking through the woods…. a sewer pipe.
We don’t like trails that we have back track.
When we got to the back-track part of the trail John decided we should bushwhack down to the lake.
It was a beautiful lake for fishing, but the shoreline wasn’t the best for hiking. And what the heck is this?!
The park was big and very nicely kept. We explored the different campground loops and if we come back this way again, we will definitely be staying at this campground.
