We arrived 8 days ago along with 3 other couples, John and Sharon, Phil and Sue and our new friends Mike and Sherry, and we are truly enjoying ourselves. The guys spend a lot of time working on the rigs and the girls read, paint, clean or just relax. Every night we sit around a campfire and chat and drink. (I know, itās a hard life but somebody has to do it.) Here we are in our little ācircleā.
There are many groups spread out across the desert but even with all of the people and rigs it doesnāt feel crowded.
There are lots of ābuggiesā running around and they look like a lot of dusty fun.
We saw several para planes in our first days, but not many since.
This morning we were greeted with a beautiful sunrise and a couple of hot air balloons.
Yesterday we paid tribute to an RV friend who passed last year. Though John and I did not know him very well, those that did loved him very much.
There were some tears, but mostly a lot of laughing, as those gathered shared their stories and favorite memories of Ray, which is what I think he would have wanted.
We spread some of his ashes on a hilltop outside of town
John, me, and our friends Sue and Phil took a short 6 mile hike out into the desert to do some exploring. The air is cool but the sun is hot and there isnāt a lot of shade.
We did find a couple of interesting cacti. The saguaro (they are TOO COOL) ā¦
ā¦and a somewhat fuzzy cactus, called a ājumping chollaā or ādesert velcroā. The spines are barbed and stick to almost anything, I know from personal experience.
Phil and Sue are in the market for a new rig and have been looking all week at different RVās. Maybe today we can help them close a deal. I am told we also need to go to the ābook storeā to visit the naked shop keeper. This could be fun.
It was 3 degrees and we were thinking about circling the fireplace drinking hot toddies – almost the same as your news – Brrrrrrrr.
