Yesterday there was hardly a cloud in the sky, the sun was warm and felt good on my face. The temperature was somewhere in the 60’s.
The dogs and I spent some time in the sunshine scouting around my landscaping. I noticed that the tulips and hyacinths are poking through the ground, and my butterfly bush has grown some new green leaves.
My 3 heather bushes are the Erica carnea variety and bloom in late winter. These are my first plants to flower, and right now they are full of delicate, pink flower clusters. During my inspection to see how they wintered and checking their overall health, I found a honey bee busily buzzing between the flowers.
As we wandered to the backyard, with the sun warming my back, the songs of the returning migrating birds filling the air, thoughts of small pink flowers and the discovery of a lone honey bee, I could feel my winter blues melting away along with the snow.
