For the most part the guests of the campground are very pleasant and easy to get along with. However you do get those that you just can’t please no matter what you try.

After a particularly rough weekend John wanted to go shoot something. So we packed up our guns and headed for the range.

The scenery surrounding the range was beautiful and relaxing. I have to admit that shooting my little metal target was rewarding and stress relieving. I love to make the disks spin around.

When we got home and I looked at the pictures John took I noticed something disturbing….I haven’t lost much if any weight like I had hoped.

So as in any household, when Mama needs to lose weight, so does everyone else. John had gotten shots in his knees in May and was feeling pretty good so we decided a little hiking and rockhounding would be good for us.

There are lots of hiking and biking trails around so off we went.

Well as it turns out though John’s day to day pain in his knees is gone, any type of strenuous hiking (the kind you do that helps you lose weight) he can’t do and probably won’t be able to without knee replacements.

There was a couple in the park about our age that John was talking to and the conversation came around to rockhounding, hiking and bad knees. The guy was in the same position John is with his knees and said that bike riding helped his knees. So we got bikes.

It is great!!! Okay, it wasn’t at first, our butts took awhile to get used to the seats, but now it is all good. John is doing very well riding the bike so we decided to hit the trails.

One thing about biking is you get to see more territory than you do hiking. We are enjoying the off-road EASY trails. Not sure I’m ready for anything else.

The other couple said it took them about a year to feel confident on the bikes. I think it is going to be the same for us. We just aren’t as daring and our balance isn’t what it used to be when we were kids, but the great scenery is good motivator.

Chat me up peeps! We love to hear from you.
