Our drive from Hot Springs, Arkansas to our next campground in Hohenwald Tennessee was uneventful for the most part. Unlike our “wild ride” into Hot Springs our biggest hurdle was getting under a low bridge in order to get to the campground.
We had been to this campground before so we knew what had to be done. Our GPS (Samantha) however thought we were insane.
As you can see from the photos the bridge height is 11 feet high. Our motorhome is 12’ and 6”. The GPS knows all this information. What she doesn’t know that the spur off of the road gives closer to a 14 foot clearance.
Approaching the bridge she starts with the “Height violation ahead”. Over and over. As John approaches the bridge she is frantically warning “Height violation” “Height violation”.
If it was programmed with more of a sense of humor, she might have been screaming different warnings to us, but as it was Samantha’s “Height Violation” warning to our ears seemed more frantic and panicked the further we proceeded.
Between the left curve, right curve, sharp curve, winding road ahead, steep down grade from the trip before and now us ignoring her height violation warnings it is amazing the GPS didn’t start smoking or something.
She didn’t talk to us the rest of the trip to the campground. Thank goodness we knew where we were going.
