Have I ever mentioned how much I love having a washer in the coach? I tell John that exact thing just about every time I use it.
The other day, when I did a load of wash everything was fine until it hit the dry cycle and it started making a “scratching noise” like a stone or something was stuck somewhere it wasn’t supposed to be.
I cleaned it all out and John said to try one more load. Well it didn’t help. So I pulled the wet clothes out of the washer and then we pulled the washer out.
Not an easy thing to do in limited space. First John removed the decorative molding. The the plastic “flood prevention piece” which not only was screwed in place but siliconed as well….ya know to hold the water incase the washer leaks.
There is only enough room for the washer to sit upright between its compartment and the bureau. When the washer kinda fell out of its hole the outer plastic cracked. The inner part was fine so no harm there.
He took the back off and found that the bearings were going bad. I have no idea what all he had to go through to fix it, but it involved, drilling rivets, the purchase of a bearing puller (whatever that is), finding and purchasing the right bearings, heating and cooling parts and a lot of colorful adjectives, beer, and I think at some point there was a hammer involved.
In the meantime, during the days that it took for all of this to happen, the shut-off valves for the water to the washer were leaking. They leaked enough that the bucket we had them in filled, overflowed and since we removed the little plastic dam thingy, the carpet got soaked.
Looks like this summer I will be getting a new floor in the bedroom. We will be almost carpet free.
No I didn’t loosen the valves on purpose.
