I can’t remember any more why we decided to make a bedroom downstairs, but I think it had something to do with making it a three bedroom house, and designing in a way that you could live on the first floor if needed.
Before
I know this is a repeat picture from the dining room but apparently we didn’t take any others so here it is. Where Cooper is in the picture is what is to be the downstairs bedroom. The opening you see is going to be the opening of the closet in the bedroom. The door to nowhere that Cooper is checking out we walled up. To the right of the doorway is a half opening with glass shelves. This we opened up and made a full doorway out of to our bedroom.
During
Here you can see the original opening between the old dining room and living room is now the opening to the closet in the bedroom.
John glued drywall to the fake brick wall. Woo, that stuff smelled, we had to sleep in another room it was so bad even with the window open. Again there was this nasty wall covering or treatment on the other two walls. So I stuccoed the walls in here also and it seemed to hide all the issus well.
After
I don’t have any after pictures yet because I’m not happy with the way the room looks. I’ll post pictures after I repaint.
