Happy Birthday America

We started out this weekend not having a lot of plans, other than trying to squeeze in an overnight backpacking trip, but with the weather it didn’t really work out. However we did have some friends, Paul and Bonnie, call to let us know they were coming up from Lewisburg area to watch the fireworks, so we decided to have a 4th of July picnic and then go to the fireworks.

Jerry and Candy (my parents), Me-Me, and Aunt Lois came to the picnic too. Me-Me was in aREALLY bad mood, so we tried to cheer her, but it didn’t work until we sat down for supper. She likes it when John cooks for her so he made her some special chicken.

We headed out for the fireworks around 8:00pm and parked in our favorite area, which let’s us get out of town with minimal entanglement with the traffic. As we were making our way through town to get to the place we wanted to watch the fireworks, I suggested that we walk down by the Williamsport mural. Turns out the artist was just finishing up some work on the mural and offered to give all those present a tour of the mural. What a treat! It was very interesting how he put the mural together and the meaning of all of the different scenes. I did find a web site, though it is not being kept up to date. Williamsport Mural Info
