Our time at Quartzsite has come to an end. It is always sad to part ways with friends and to an extent, the other RV’ers that have become our temporary community or neighborhood, so to say. Even colorful “Aunt Martha” will be missed.
After many trips into town attending all of the rock shows, and the purchase of rocks and equipment, we are spending our final week relaxing at camp.
Sue and I are working on our individual art projects, she is a professional artist, I’m the amateur. We all appreciate the creativeness of the Quartzsite downtown artists; very inspiring. The most unique item I saw is this birdhouse of wood and agate slabs.
Phil and John are busy going through the rocks that they purchased at the rock show and rocks that they collected during the year, trying to decide what to work with first.
The machine Phil is using is a Pixie stone polisher. John is using a stone saw. The polisher uses water to keep things cool, the stone saw uses mineral oil. Both require the operator to wear some sort of an apron.
John has a store bought apron. A friend of Phil and Sue made Phil his apron from a vinyl table cloth. Isn’t he handsome????
John purchased a drill press for drilling holes in pendants and hopefully his bottle stoppers. The drill press isn’t very messy so he will be able to use this inside the coach on cooler days and in the evenings.
Here are some of John’s future projects for pendants and bottle stoppers.
Though we try to make plans, 99.999% of the time circumstances and/or our whims change our direction. We have every intention to return to Quartzsite, AZ for the winter of 2017, but…who knows where any of us will end up.
