Our friends have traveled on to complete their journeys, and we are back in Cottonwood, AZ where we will be until John’s next BSC job(the flight-simulator-relocation job) or the heat drives us North.
So what do we do while hiding from the Northern cold? In between my studies for my Medical Transcription Editor certification and John’s house remodel job for a local home owner…we play of course!!
Jeeping around the mountains and playing off-road tops our list of fun time activities.
Rockhounding is another favorite pastime for us. Involves Jeeping of course. Coming from a state that is “pretty rock” challenged we love treasure hunting for the colorful rocks that this area has a plenty.
The guy who owns the house John is working on, originally from Bloomsburg, PA (go figure) has 4-wheelers that he and his buddy Mike from Danville, PA (I know right) use to scour the hillsides for the pretties. Springtime in high elevations where the rockhounding is best, can be a bit iffy weather wise.
Warm and sunny in the morning.
Snowing by mid afternoon.
We also dog-watch on occasion. This is Meesha, Dan and Jill’s dog. She is THE SWEETEST!!!
Work on the house….and drink beer and wine.
Go swimming with Santa Claus. Yes he vacations in Arizona too!…..and drink beer and wine.
Since we are in an “artsy-fartsy” area the wine and beer festivals are plenty….where we drink beer and wine.
But our staple evening activity is hanging at Dan and Jill’s place with our RV friends….where we drink A LOT OF BEER AND WINE.
This is Norby. For those of you who have heard us talk about or have seen for yourself our Jeep’s bright lights that we call our Norby Lights….this is the gentleman who hooked us up.
Janet and Alan from Maine.
Rob and Charlotte.
And last but not least, “The Wieners”. We just call them that. They run a gourmet hotdog stand and they are really good hotdogs. Michele and John.
What we learned this year, is that we don’t want to be in AZ as late in the year as we stayed this year. Dry heat aside, 115 degrees is just plain hot….the beer and wine gets warm too fast.
On the upside it is mid June and we are heading for the East cost. BSC called we are off to Alabama and then home to PA.
