This is probably my favorite fall festival in Pennsylvania is the annual Apple & Cheese Festival in Canton, PA.
In addition to flea market items, crafters, hot sauces sellers and all of the cheese, wine, apple and food vendors are demonstrations of early farm life equipment and skills.
The festival is held on the Manley-Bohlayer farm that was built in the 1860’s. In the garden area is where to look to find the local handcrafters.
We even found some alpacas to feed.
We were too early to see the cider press working, too bad it is pretty cool.
We did get a chance to see the lathe in action. The crafter was making whistles for the kids. This is a hand and/or foot operated lathe.
The old school house on the property held many antiques from the 1900’s. I thought the wheelchair was very interesting.
This cool contraption is a butter churn. I’m so glad I can go to the grocery store for my butter.
I felt so “farmish” when I got home that I felt the need to dress Bernie up like a scarecrow.
