We have been collecting rocks from across the country for the past 4 years. John has been dabbling with cutting, polishing and creating art with these rocks.
Having lived in an area of the country where the beauty of the landscape is the foliage and not the rocks we have been overwhelmed by the variety of colors and patterns of rocks found in other parts of the country.
John has been making bottle stoppers, pendants and cabochons for quite some time now. He has mostly been giving them away as gifts and to “testers” to try out his products.
Now that he has a respectable inventory, I have been posting his creations on our web site and have been slowly bringing his Etsy site on line too. He has had his first two major shows this summer in Williamsport, PA.
We attended Williamsport’s First Friday event and he did pretty good as far as sales and just getting his product out and exposed.
Our second show was Williamsport’s Homemade Days. The first day it rained, but the second day was beautiful and he did much better. We also had a much better presentation of product too than we did at First Friday.
Our pretty new vendor tent.
Our new display table.
His confidence has been boosted by how well his products were received. His newest creation, credited to our friend Suzanne is lamp finials.
I can see ceiling fan pulls in his future as well.
Good job John. Maybe you ought to look at spending a summer at Ruby’s Rock Shop at Ruby’s Inn at Bryce Canyon National Park.
