Yesterday we were working on windows and floors, today we are helping Julia build a swing set that her parents bought for the boys. Oh boy, it’s one of those wooden contraptions. First order of business, read the directions. Hmm. It says that it will take eight to ten hours for three people. They don’t have John and Julia working on their projects!
So it goes, piece by piece.
Section by section.
Gatorade after Gatorade.
We are racing the sun, trying to stay in the shade.
But soon it is shining on the entire yard. Wow! We didn’t think it would be this hot and humid in June, but here it is in the 90’s and the humidity has got to be close to that. We’re starting to get a little crazy by now.
But the end is near. John and I hope so at least. The day is really heating up, not to mention the hardware that is out in the sun. It is almost too hot to touch. Julia and I are going to have blisters on our fingers until we are done! John doesn’t understand our problem.
It must be our age because I don’t remember the heat bothering us so much. We are wiped out! But we must press on. Time for the finishing touches, a window box, the swings and the glider.
Six hours later and we have a swing set begging for some children.
And here they are!
Liam was so funny about the whole thing too. He asked, “Who built this for me?” When we told him we did, he smiled, gave us a funny look and said, “Who built this for me?” I don’t think he believed us.
